Marshalltown Community School District Earns Two National Communication Awards

The Marshalltown Community School District (MCSD) Communications Department has received two Awards of Merit from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) as part of its 2026 Publications and Digital Media Awards program.

NSPRA's Publications and Digital Media Awards recognize outstanding tactical communications materials from school districts and education organizations across the country. The program honors excellence in a wide range of categories, including publications, newsletters, videos, podcasts, websites, social media content, photography, and more.

MCSD earned Awards of Merit in the Photography category for its entries "Preschool Playtime" and "Forever a Bobcat." Entries are judged within categories based on the type and size of the organization, with each submission evaluated for overall excellence and quality in comparison to other entries in the same category.

“These awards reflect the power of storytelling through photography and the meaningful moments that happen every day in our schools,” said Director of Communications Abby Koch. “It is an honor  to receive national recognition for capturing the experiences, achievements, and connections that make Marshalltown Community School District such a special place to learn and grow.”

As part of the recognition, MCSD will be honored during NSPRA's Celebration of Achievement at the organization's national conference on Sunday,  July 19 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Both award-winning photography entries will also be featured in a display showcasing recipients from across the nation.

The awards highlight MCSD's ongoing commitment to sharing authentic stories that celebrate students, staff, and the school community while keeping stakeholders informed and engaged.
